Last week, Community Rehab Project 2013, composed of 250 volunteers from Comanche County, as well as cities throughout Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri, renovated 15 houses in Comanche, DeLeon, Lamkin, and Sidney, including the project\'s 200th house in its 14 year history, located in the 200 block of South Texas St. in DeLeon. Building materials were provided through private donations and registration fees paid by the volunteers.

Hospital searches for new CEO
The Comanche County Hospital District and Comanche County Medical Center boards met in a joint session Tuesday to discuss the replacement of hospital CEO Kevin Storey, who tendered his resignation last week. According to multiple sources, there is board support for hiring a short-term interim CEO while the district and medical center boards search for Storey\'s permanent replacement. It was also reported that the current climate of medical care suggests that there will be no shortage of applicants for the CEO position.
Quilt show set for this weekend
The 14th Annual DeLeon Quilt Show will be held this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the DeLeon High School cafetorium from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. Those wishing to exhibit a quilt should bring it to DeLeon High School before 1 p.m. on Thursday. There is a $2 entrance fee to help offset the cost of expenses.
Alarm companies to bid on old city hall project
The DeLeon City Council met in a regular meeting Thursday and approved the creation of an account to close on a grant and loan from the Texas Water Development Board for the planning and design of new water lines throughout the city. In other news, DeLeon Mayor Lowell Ercanbrack reported that at least three fire alarm companies were expected, or had already submitted, bids to install a new fire alarm system in the old DeLeon City Hall building. The installation of new fire alarms would remove one of the most pressing obstacles related to the renovation of the building.
County approves funds for Sipe Springs fire department
Comanche County Commissioners met in a regular meeting Monday, and approved $6,500 in funding to help purchase bunker gear for the Sipe Springs Volunteer Fire Department. Sipe Springs had already received a grant of $35,000 from the Forest Service to cover the majority of the equipment cost. Commissioners also awarded two used Motor Graders to high bidders Parham\'s of Stephenville and Randall Clark of Clark Tractor for a total of just under $32,000.
