I
would like to announce that I am seeking election in the
Democratic primary for the office of Comanche County Attorney.
I have over eight years of experience
as a prosecutor, having served as an assistant district attorney
in the Brown County District Attorney’s office from 1993-2000, and
as an assistant district attorney in the Nacogdoches County
District Attorney’s office in 1992.
I have been in private practice since
leaving the Brown County Attorneys office at the end of 2000,
maintaining an office in Comanche since 2002.
I look forward to the opportunity to
return to my roots as a prosecutor. If elected, I will work with
law enforcement, school officials, local merchants and citizens of
Comanche County to do all I can to make our county a safe and
desirable place to live.
I graduated from the University of
Texas with a BBA, and the Southern Methodist University Law
School.
I reside near Gustine, and am the son
of David and Jackie Willingham, and the grandson of Lois Allen,
all of Gustine. I have a daughter, Tana, who attends San Angelo
State University. |

I've
lived in DeLeon virtually all of my life. I've been married for 43
years to JoAnn Mathis Carlin and we've raised our two children
here.
I've been involved with construction
and heavy equipment operation for all of my working life and
hopefully have earned a solid reputation for my work and ethics. I
have worked extensively with former Precinct 3 Commissioner Mark
Pinson and more recently with Bobby Schuman, as well as Precinct 4
Commissioner Jimmy Dale Johnson, and am familiar with many of the
issues and road conditions they deal with.
As many of you may know, I have dealt
with a serious health issue in recent months, however, the doctors
now tell me that I am fully recovered and medically fit to serve.
I am also eager to serve the
residents of Precinct 3 as their County Commissioner. I feel I can
bring a good, new perspective and expertise to the roads and
county government situation.
I would appreciate your support in
the March 4 Democratic Primary Election. |

VAN DYKE -- The possible addition of a

most recent hospital board meeting.
The Board of Directors of the Comanche
County Consolidated Hospital District, the governing body of the
Comanche County Medical Center and the Doctors Medical Clinic, met for
their regular November session on Tuesday, November 27, at the

SUBSTATION WORK UNDERWAY. Contractors working for Oncor are in
the process of replacing some equipment and upgrading the
capabilities of the DeLeon electrical substation. A new 69kva
capacitor bank, a new 12.5 kva breaker and a new control house are
some of the improvements. Part of the process involved a momentary
power interruption at 6:00 a.m. last Monday morning, December 3,
as service was switched over to the portable substation seen on
the left in the above photo. Another brief 6:00 a.m. power outage
is planned for Friday, December 14, when the switchback to the
permanent substation will be completed. |

BALLPARK TEARDOWN
PRECEDES RENOVATIONS.
Following the recent
conveying of title to the DeLeon Independent School District by
the City of DeLeon, school employees and volunteers have begun
work clearing out the old baseball field backstop, bleachers,
dugouts and even the elevated announcer’s booth. Other than the
field itself, only the outside perimeter fencing and the recently
constructed cinder block storage building remains. Construction of
improved replacement facilities will soon be underway in line with
a multi-year improvements plan. |
