One little mistake can have significant consequences, especially where our football contest is involved. We don’t know whether the web site where we finally located the Tolar/Chico score was incorrectly posted, or whether the grader simply got the score reversed. In any event, we have to make a correction on last week’s contest results and announce a new Week 1 winner.

THE REAL WEEK 1 “MR. PERFECT". Steve Baker.

Both Steve Baker and Lorrie Dyson turned in perfect contest entries, as it turned out. Baker’s total point guess in the tiebreaker game turned out to be much closer to the actual total, however, and he thus qualified for the second $50 prize awarded for week 1.

The former “Mr. Perfect,” Allen Stone, gets to keep his prize money, but for the record fell back into a much larger group of contestants who only missed a single game. Others in that elite group include Buddy Sharp, Nathan Tucker, Jace Underwood, Jason Killebrew, Beth Riggs, Rocky Atchley, Billy Warren, David Cisneroz, Kyle Coker, Lana Coker and Pat Ripley.

The contestant panel’s average percentage correct inmproved from the previously reported 78.5% to a much more respectable 81.9%, or a “B-” grade.

The graders, who shall remain nameless, but can easily be guessed, received an “F.”
