The Comanche County Commissioners Court

Public Assistance Pilot Program. Since Comanche County has been
declared a flood event disaster area by both Governor Rick Perry and
President George Bush, the county is eligible to participate in the
program.
All commissioners were present except
Jimmy Dale Johnson. Also present were Tricia Grimshaw and Ray Helberg,
assistant Comanche County Emergency Management Coordinator, and

AN DYKE -- The dramatic improvement in
hospital earnings, as reported by interim operating and financial
management earlier in the fiscal year, may not have been entirely
reliable.
New Chief Executive Officer Kevin Storey
told the Comanche County Medical Center's Board that he had made
additional expense provisions for bad debts, contractual adjustments,
inventories and accounting errors totaling around $760,000 to get the
financial records ready for the annual audit. >>Full Story<< |

The Texas Commission on Environmental
Quality has issued an order late on Monday, August 6, for the City of
Gorman to post “Boil Water” notices because of low chlorination
residuals in the public water system there.
Gorman’s water is supplied by the Upper
Leon River Municipal Water District which uses water from Proctor Lake
and also supplies drinking water to the cities of DeLeon, Dublin,
Comanche and Hamilton.
The ULRMWD has been required to take extraordinary treatment efforts
in recent days and weeks due to the effects of rotting vegetation
caused by flood waters. >>Full Story<< |

SWIFT
WATER AWARENESS TRAINING. What better place than below Proctor
Dam to experience swift water? Actually, the rotten egg smell of
decaying vegetation in the water made things a little on the
disagreeable side. The Corps of Engineers continues to release
Proctor Lake’s captured floodwaters as rapidly as downstream
conditions will allow, providing a nearby swift water training
opportunity. DeLeon volunteer firemen Doyle Rone, Cloyd Teague and
Dan Moss served as technicians in conducting a day long swift
water safety training and self rescue skills class to area first
responders last Saturday, August 4. More than 20 class
participants were from DeLeon, Gorman, Gustine, Eastland, Cisco,
Desdemona, Sipe Springs, Dublin, Carlton and South Point. The
class serves as the beginning of the development of an area swift
water rescue training team where potential members, as well as
others, can gain experience in flood water conditions. |
