The DeLeon City Council met in regular session, Thursday, July 12, and heard a report on problems faced by the Police Department on July 4, and an update on the new park.

Councilman Howard Gifford was absent. City Secretary Karen Wilkerson was absent, and Marilyn Harbour assisted Mayor Danny Owen with the meeting.  >>Full Story<<

DESDEMONA -- Only a relatively small crowd attended the FM 2214 public meeting conducted by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) last Thursday evening, July 12. There were almost as many TxDOT officials and employees at the meeting as there were area residents for the informational and public involvement session.   >>Full Story<<

Directors of the Middle Trinity Groundwater Conservation District met in regular session, Thursday, July 12, at the Dublin City Council chambers and addressed a rather brief agenda. Four directors -- Ed Dittfurth, George Bingham, Chairman Rodney Stephens, and Fred Parker were present. Jerry Fronterhouse and Jerry Hinshaw were absent.

Also present were Joe Cooper, MTGCD general manager; Sharon Mainord, administrative assistant; and Wes Burris, field technician.

The DeLeon City Council met in a special called session, Friday, July 13, 2007 to discuss and consider electric bids for the city’s service.

The city, which has 36 meters, currently uses TXU and paid more than $100,00 for electric service last year.  >>Full Story<<


SWIFT WATER AWARENESS. DeLeon Fire Chief Doyle Rone, center, conducted a Swift Water Awareness class last Saturday at the DeLeon High School, assisted by DeLeon fireman Cloyd Teague, and David Branch, of the Eastland Fire Department. Among those participating were emergency responders from Gorman, Desdemona, Sipe Springs, Gustine, Eastland, Proctor, Carlton and Hamilton.

DESDEMONA HIGHWAY WIDENING MEETING. Elias Rmeili welcomed meeting attendees at last Thursday's meeting in Desdemona to discuss the road widening project for Highway 2214 and Highway 8 through downtown.  >>Full Story<<
