On June 17, 2007 around 6:50 p.m. the Comanche County 9-1-1 received a call from a lady that was stuck in high water on County Road 343 near the Erath County line.

The caller advised that water was up to her doors and she was still in the vehicle. Proctor Volunteer Fire Department and the Comanche County Sheriff's Office responded. Proctor Fire arrived and pulled the driver and her vehicle out of the water. While returning to the station one of Proctor’s trucks was disabled by high water and had to be pulled back to the station.

Around 7:20, US 67/377 East near Hasse was closed for approximately an hour due to about two feet of water over the road.

At approximately 8:40 p.m. the Comanche County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a domestic disturbance on County Road 343 near the Erath County line. Comanche County Dispatch advised that one of the suspects was armed with a knife. The Erath County Sheriff's Office was requested for assistance to attempt to make it to the residence from Dublin.

Comanche County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Robert Jolley attempted to cross high water on County Road 333. Deputy Jolley’s patrol vehicle stalled and was swept off the roadway. Deputies’ Rhonda Alderman and Tammy Shelton were directly behind Deputy Jolley. Deputies’ Alderman and Shelton attempted to assist Deputy Jolley out of the water.

A Precinct 3 maintainer operated by Bill Nabors was also behind the deputies. The Maintainer was driven into the water with Deputy Shelton on the front of the Maintainer. Deputy Shelton and Proctor firemen threw a rope to Deputy Jolley and he was retrieved out of the water. During the attempts to get to Deputy Jolley, Deputy Alderman’s feet were swept out from under her and she was able to climb up onto an H brace in the fence.

Comanche Fire Department’s large fire truck arrived and was able to drive into the water to assist Deputy Alderman out of the water. Once the water had subsided enough, deputies were able to make the domestic disturbance call by way of Dublin. The Comanche County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the agencies that came to assist.
