The DeLeon City Council met in regular
session Thursday, May 10, 2007, and addressed several issues related
to items discussed at the April 26, Council meeting. All Council

When the final votes were tallied,
DeLeon’s $8 million dollar school bond proposition was defeated, May
12, with 54 percent of the voters casting ballots against the measure
and 46 percent in favor.
Supporters of the bond proposal were
visibly disappointed when the results were posted on the City Hall
door at 10 p.m. Saturday night, while two people who obviously did not

DeLeon resident Levy Wayne Alexander has
offered a written apology for his remarks at the DeLeon City Council
meeting on April 26.
Alexander made an angry presentation
regarding the noise levels from a Spanish dance that had been held on
April 21. He included comments that this was not Old Mexico and
threatening violence if the loud dance music was ever repeated. >>Full Story<< |

COMANCHE -- The views in the southwestern
and southern portions of Comanche County may soon be similar to those
in west Texas, where large, three-bladed wind turbines dominate the
skyline. That is, if the counties and school districts involved are
agreeable to tax abatements for the power generating equipment, the
Commissioners Court was informed on Monday.
The commissioners met in regular session
on May 14, with windmill power generation, bond refinancing, and
District Court records storage needs as the primary items of
