The Middle Trinity Groundwater Conservation District directors voted to appoint Ed Dittfurth, of Stephenville, to serve out the term of former board member Boyd Waggoner.

Shortly after high winds and big rain storms passed through Comanche County late last Wednesday afternoon, an emergency unfolded in the far southeast notch of the county involving an elderly couple trapped in their pickup in rising flood waters, a key roadway closed for bridge construction, and a large response from area emergency responders and public safety officers.   >>Full Story<<

If early voter turnout is any indication, then voter turnout this Saturday, May 12, should be higher than normal.

According to DeLeon City Secretary Karen Wilkerson, more than 140 early voters had cast their ballots in the city and school elections by Tuesday morning, May 8, the last full day of early voting, with the polls remaining open until 7 p.m.   >>Full Story<<


On April 30, Clayton Wayne Seale, 22, of Lamkin, pled guilty in the 220th District Court to Possession of Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) greater than 4 grams but less than 200 grams.

In July 2006 the Comanche County Sheriff's Office began an investigation after Seale had reported a home invasion to the Sheriff's Office. During the initial investigation Deputies found 4.9 grams of Methamphetamine, equipment and all but one ingredient used to manufacture Methamphetamine.  >>Full Story<<


Over the last eight weeks DeLeon ISD Superintendent Dr. Randy Mohundro has been answering a variety of questions concerning the upcoming school bond election which will be held this Saturday, May 12. In the final set of questions, Dr. Mohundro attempts to answer the last minute questions that have arisen. He also gives his final thoughts on the bond issue to close-out the series. ESA HONORS BANQUET-SENIORS. These DHS students have maintained an “A” average during the current school year. 22 Seniors were honored. Present were Brittney Auvenshine, Gustavo Calzada, Cameron Canterbury, Josh Carruth, L.C. Cisneroz, Mary Katherine Dickey, Justin Gonzales, Monica Gonzales, Anabel Hernandez, Lyndi Levisay, Jeremy Lindley, Gary McLearen, Kelsey Menzel, Delia Moreno, Jessica Moreno, Flor Maria Reyna, Lisa Sepeda, M.J. Stewart and Marisa Vargas. Also honored but not present were Isacc Garcia, Candice Garza and Eduardo Trenado.

ESA HONORS BANQUET-JUNIORS. These DHS students have maintained an “A” average during the current school year. 21 Juniors were honored. Present were Kimberly Arnold, Emily Auvenshine, Mitch Barefoot, Josh Beaty, James Canterbury, Krista Escamilla, Brody Hammonds, Veda Holland, Elizabeth Lewis, Thomas Lopez, Whitney McDonald, Kristen Powell, Ethan Royall, Kevin Smith, Susan Travis, Selina Walker, Raymond Watson and Cody Welch. Also honored but not present were Bonnie Gilder, Georgeanne Landreth and Angela Reyna.

ESA HONORS BANQUET-SOPHOMORES. These DHS students have maintained an “A” average during the current school year. 17 Sophomores were honored. Present were Latisha Abbey, Kayla Atchley, Pedro Calzada, Jessica Flores, C.J. Grumbles, Meagan Holder, Scott Jordan, Tyler McKinney, Matt Nowlin, Trevor Nowlin, Kimberly Perez, Chance Singleton and Clayton Stokes. Also honored but not present were Lane Chupp, Elizabeth Gilder, Kimberly Perez and Maci Williams.

ESA HONORS BANQUET-FRESHMEN. These DHS students have maintained an “A” average during the current school year. 11 Freshmen were honored. Present were Calvin Caraway, Courtney Caraway, Jennifer Lewis, Stuart Martin, Colton Mathis and Rebecca McDonald. Also honored but not present were Hope Landa, Adrian Mejia, Kolby Powell, Ashley Sharp and Mitch Winkles.
