According to city, hospital and DISD officials, there were no candidate filings as of press time on Tuesday, February 20. The filing period for candidates for the May 12 elections for the DeLeon City Council, the DeLeon Independent School District board of trustees and all six places on the Comanche County Consolidated Medical Center board opened last week.

The filing deadline for the city and school elections is March 12 until 5 p.m. and April 11 for the hospital district. The election is scheduled for May 12.

The hospital election will be held at large, by place, with any eligible district residents able to file. The current board members are Joe Locke, John Mack Weaver, Mary Jane Atkins, Gale Easley, Charles Mazurek and Karen Carr.

The two-year City Council terms set to expire include those of Johnnye Howell, place 3; Avery Carlisle, place 4; and John Holdridge, place 5. Due to relocating to Tyler, Holdridge submitted his resignation last week.

The DISD board positions expiring include those of Kelly Dickey, Becky Golden and Janet McGinnis, but not Lisa Nowlin, as was reported last week. McGinnis was appointed to the board to fulfill the term of Kelly Sparger, after Sparger resigned.
