Daring daytime burglars broke into the home and garage of June Carruth on Sunday morning, January 28, while she was attending church services.

Carruth made the discovery of the break-in around noon, after she returned home from church. Carruth lives about five miles southwest of DeLeon on CR 463.   >>Full Story<<

The scores of expected friends of Kaiser the pit bull never showed, but the few who did make an appearance offered emotional testimony at the DeLeon City Council meeting, Thursday, January 25. Councilman Johnnye Howell was absent. City attorney Lois Rockefeller was present for the first half of the meeting.

Kaiser was shot by former DeLeon police officer Richard Hyatt in October of last year, on, or near, (that issue is still being debated) the property of his owner, Stephen Shoemaker.  >>Full Story<<

2007 WOMAN OF THE YEAR. Gayle Stroud was honored at the DeLeon Chamber of Commerce Banquet on Monday evening. She received a standing ovation.

2007 MAN OF THE YEAR. Dr. Mike Burk was honored at the DeLeon Chamber of Commerce Banquet on Monday evening. He received a standing ovation.

2007 GOLDEN DEEDS HONOREES. Betty and Cedric Bettis were honored at the DeLeon Chamber of Commerce Banquet on Monday evening. They received a standing ovation.

BUSINESS OF THE YEAR. Golden Oak Milling was honored at the 2007 Chamber of Commerce Banquet on Monday evening. Pictured are C.M. Caraway III, in the center, and his sons, Kyle on the left, and Kevin on the right.
