Area
residents got a taste of life in the “windy city” last week as a
strong wind “event” battered DeLeon, and surrounding areas, for more
than 12 hours late Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning. Some
meteorologists estimated that there were wind gusts up to 50 miles an
hour.
In addition to rearranging lawn furniture, blowing over a billboard
(near First National Bank), breaking a tree, and causing power
outages, the strong wind blew the roof off of a 14,600 square foot

COMANCHE -- Adding up the vote totals on
election day has never been a completely simple process, but this
year’s general election was a particularly complicated affair, and
errors in reporting -- relatively small errors -- were made.
That is basically what County Clerk Ruby
Lesley reported to the Commissioners Court on Monday, November 20, as
it met to conduct an official canvass of the November 7 general

The
Bearcats traveled to Pennington Field in Bedford to play their first
playoff game in years against Muenster this past Friday night.
Although DeLeon was outsized by Muenster,
the Bearcats held their own and had several chances to change the
outcome of the game.

OFFICER. Waverly Inman, DeLeon's newest police officer, was
sworn in Monday, November 20, by Karen Wilkerson, city secretary.
Inman, of DeLeon, is married to Michelle, and they have four
children. Waverly 9, Dayanira, 5, Cayden, 2 and Ellyanna, 1. |
