This past Friday night, the Bearcats hosted Perrin-Whitt for their
third district game of the season. It didn’t take long for the
Bearcats to take control of the game and dominate the Pirates by a
final score of 42-14.
The
Pirates won the toss and chose to receive the opening kick-off. In
their third play from scrimmage, L.C. Williams stepped in front of a
Pirate receiver and intercepted the ball. 30-yards later, Williams
found the end-zone, and the Bearcats found themselves with an early
7-0 lead.
Perrin-Whitt was unable to move the ball
on their next possession and had to punt the ball back to the Bearcats
where DeLeon began their first offensive drive of the night at the
Pirates 48-yard line.
It only took the Bearcats four plays
before they were able to score again when M.J. Stewart ran a 30-yard
touchdown run to give the Bearcats a 14-0.
The Pirates were able to move the ball a
little better on their next possession as they were able to move the
ball to mid-field before Pedro Calzada was able to intercept another
pass for the Bearcats.
Seven plays and 48-yards later, Gustavo
Calzada scored the third Bearcat touchdown of the first quarter as he
was able to punch the ball into the end-zone from three yards out to
give the Bearcats a 21-0 lead.
The Pirates were finally able to get
their offense on track as they were able to take the first possession
of the second quarter and drive 80-yards to score their first points
of the game on a 35-yard touchdown pass.
The Perrin-Whitt score closed the lead to
21-7.
DeLeon was quick to answer the Pirates
score as it only took the Bearcats three plays on their next
possession to score.
On the third play from scrimmage,
Williams busted loose for a 60-yard touchdown run to increase the
Bearcats lead to 28-7.
The Bearcats put a stop to the Pirates
next offensive possession just to see their punter boot a 55-yard
punt. The punt was downed at the DeLeon 1-yard line.
Two plays later, the Bearcats would
fumble the ball to the Pirates and give them first and goal on the
Bearcat three yard line.
Perrin-Whitt would score on just one play
and bring the score to 28-14.
Williams quickly answered the Pirate
score again, but this time he would do it with a 75-yard touchdown run
for the final score of the first half.
The Bearcats would go into the locker
room with a commanding 35-14 lead.
The final score of the game would come on
the Bearcat’s first possession of the second half.
Stewart would score on a tremendous
35-yard run as he was able to plow through three Pirate defenders on
his way to the end-zone. His touchdown would finish the scoring at
42-14 in the Bearcat’s favor.
The Bearcats will be in action again this
coming Friday. They will be playing in Santo with a starting time of
