COMANCHE -- The Commissioners Court
agreed to allow county residents to once again resume outdoor burning,
although under certain restrictions. The Commissioners also refused a
request from Hamilton County Judge Cox to restrict the recreational
use of the Leon River waters below Proctor Lake.
The active members of the Comanche County
Commissioners Court met in regular session on Monday, September 11, to
conduct the first of two required budget hearings and to consider a
lengthy agenda of matters. County Judge James Arthur presided and
Commissioners Garry Steele, Chris Biggs and Bobby Schuman

The DeLeon City Council met in a called
session, Friday, September 8, 2006, and addressed a short agenda.
Although primarily a budget workshop, there were two other items on
the agenda -- “Citizen’s Presentation” and “Discuss and Consider
Action on Activities with the Texas Parks and Wildlife grant #
5000312.” Councilman Johnnye Howell was absent, as were Karen

The DeLeon City Council met in a called
meeting, Monday, September 11, 2006, with all members present except
for Avery Carlisle. The meeting was held on Monday, instead of
Thursday, because both Mayor Danny Owen and Karen Wilkerson, city
secretary, will be attending an employment law seminar on Thursday.
A presentation by Vince Viaille, of First
Southwest Company of Lubbock, regarding options for funding part of
the Festival Park project, was the primary focus of the almost two
