A story last week in the
Stephenville Empire-Tribune announcing that Dublin was “in the
running” for a $100 million ethanol plant sparked a great deal of
interest here in DeLeon. Two Comanche County sites were also listed
as possibilities.
Many people, including some
DeLeon civic leaders, understand that such a plant, even in Dublin,
could provide an economic boost to this area. >>Full Story<< |

LUCKY TO BE ALIVE. Billy
Self of Gorman was the driver of this car which had just pulled
onto Highway 6 about four miles east of DeLeon last Tuesday
afternoon when it was struck by the semi tractor-trailer truck
seen in the background. Self, who was still in the wrecked auto
when this photo was taken, was removed by EMS and DeLeon VFD
personnel and transported to Comanche County Medical Center where
he was treated for cuts, kept overnight for observation and
released the following day. The truck, driven by Russell Hartman
of Plantersville, Texas, was hauling two large lathes. Self was
reported to have run out of gas and, after receiving a refill from
his stepson Jack Casey, started up his car and pulled into the
path of the truck. |

BIG
HAILSTONES. This photo was taken by Daniel Harper, who lives
in the 100 block of S. Houston Street, and shows some of the large
chunks of ice that fell at his residence late Friday night, May
5. The tennis ball is for size reference. Harper had a car
window broken out by the hail. |
