COMANCHE -- The County Commissioners heard a report on Monday that the county's emergency dispatch system has been struggling with a heavy load of calls requesting permission for controlled burns.

The problem has at times threatened the dispatch operators' ability to handle emergency and law enforcement needs according to dispatcher Kalua Stewart.

The Commissioners Court met in regular session on Monday, April 10, with all members present except for Clyde Brinson, who was absent due to illness.

Stewart had requested the opportunity to discuss the problems that central dispatch has experienced since the county returned to the normal restricted burn ban.
