The DeLeon City Council was swayed by the
wishes of the members of the Christian Church and others to vote to
move the melon and produce vendors from their longtime selling
location on north Houston Street, often referred to as "Market
Street", to some other, as yet unspecified, location.
A special called Council meeting was held
on Thursday evening, April 6, for the purpose of hearing working
proposals from the vendors and the church as to how their conflicting
interests on the use of the 100 block of North Houston Street could be
resolved. All Council members were present except for John Holdridge.

COMANCHE -- The County
Commissioners heard a report on Monday that the county's emergency
dispatch system has been struggling with a heavy load of calls
requesting permission for controlled burns.
The problem has at times threatened the
dispatch operators' ability to handle emergency and law enforcement
needs according to dispatcher Kalua Stewart.
The Commissioners Court met in regular
session on Monday, April 10, with all members present except for Clyde
Brinson, who was absent due to illness.
Stewart had requested the opportunity to
discuss the problems that central dispatch has experienced since the
county returned to the normal restricted burn ban. |

Bearcats were able to outscore Hico 19-12 this past Friday night in

in time as it lasted a painful 3.5 hours. >>Full Story<< |

The
Lady Bearcats were in action at Hico this past Friday night in what
proved to be a very interesting game. Not only did the game have
several lead changes, but it was played in some very strong wind that
caused many problems for both the Lady Cats and Lady Tigers in
fielding the ball. >>Full Story<< |
